Bye-bye!

All done.

The old girl is starting to feel like an identity crisis, so I’m putting her to bed. She’ll stay up as an archive, and I’ll let  you know if I start blogging about anything other than the crafty.

Thank you for listening lo these many years. Dude. 1996. I. am. old.

So long!

Oh, no… I hadn’t checked your site for a couple of months, and now I drop by and find out you’re closing up shop! Obviously this is your choice to make, but I know I wasn’t the only one who has been hoping you’d start updating again. In an internet absolutely clogged with blogs, yours stood out.

Oh! I’m so very sorry. I’ve really enjoyed your stuff, & have been checking back regularly ever since last February, in hopes of a fresh post. We didn’t always share the same point of view on various issues - but hey, that’s what makes life interesting; and the Housewife’s POV was always irreverent, intelligent, funny, and often touching enough to bring tears to my eyes. I’ll SO miss this blog. Best of luck in your future endeavors (and if you change your mind, lots of us out here would be very happy to welcome disgruntledhousewife back any time)!

Wow, I am bummed. I check in here every now and again. Something in the Statesman pointed out your blog long before blogging was blogging and I was hooked ever since. I cried when your dog died. I mourn the loss of the site. Good luck Nikol. I always cheered you on. Will continue to do so. Best.

I don’t mean to sound all hokey, but I feel like I’m saying good-bye to an old friend.

When I was little I had one of those puzzle balls — the kind that you pull apart to make all the three-dimensional pieces fall out and then you have to push the pieces back through the correct hole. My dad used to tell of how I would always take my puzzle ball behind the living room chair to put the pieces in. No one was allowed to see the process — only the finished product. That fear of being “exposed” (i.e. having someone see the unfinished product) has followed me well into adulthood. Clearly I’ve had to work through that issue since none of us are ever finished products as long as we’re still breathing.

I’ve always admired your bravery in putting so much of your life out there. I’ve been reading your blogs for years. I think we’re about the same age (36?) and seem to have a lot of similar life experiences. The difference was your willingness to take us along for the ride. I feel like you’ve given the rest of us the benefits of group therapy all these years as we watched your struggles and elations so similar to our own — except that we took advantage of anonymity while you so bravely bared your soul.

You will be sorely missed, but I can understand your need to move on. I wish you well and thank you for all that you have shared with us over the years. Thank you for all the, “Oh my god. There is someone else out there who totally feels like I do” moments. You took that secret diary that most people hide under their mattresses and put it on the internet. Thank you so much for that.

If you ever decide to resurrect DH you’ll have a guaranteed audience!

Wow. I have been reading you since 1996 (is that really all that long ago?). Thanks for all those moments when you put words to what I was feeling.

I have been reading this site since about 1998; as the above poster said I too believe we’re around the same age, (I’m 37, jeez! Where DOES the time go???)……Will we be able to see what you’re up too via another blog or site perhaps? Regardless, I’ve enjoyed your wonderful wit and much more all these years.
    Take-Care and Bless Ya’! :)

What all those other people said. I think I started reading DH in mid-’97, and you’ve been my favorite blog ever since. With a whole freakin’ school to watch after though (and the knitting!), the Internet can be a tiring place.

This makes me sad. Have you considered getting a Myspace or Facebook? It won’t be the same, but hopefully you’ll come back in some form or another.

Thank you for being stable and consistent. With all the crap that’s out there online, your site has truly always been a diamond in the rough. Hope to see you around! Good luck and stay classy. :)

I find this makes me a little sad. I suppose a certain era of our lives has actually been over for a very long time, but this makes it seem so official.

At least I still know where I can find pictures of your ta-tas online.

Don’t do it!!!! Pleeeeeease! As an aside… On one of your blog comments..another of your Denver friends recommended Door To Door organics to me and it changed our lives. I can’t go into why here but it did and I thank her and I thank you for hours of entertainment. Since ‘96. Thanks Nikol. Now start a blog about living off the grid. It’s the latest thing and once again..you are way ahead of everyone on this.

I know, I know. You closed shop almost a year ago and I stopped checking it before then because you stopped posting.

I discovered your site in 1997 when I was a very lonely girl living in NYC. I felt like I had a friend.

God, I love(d) your site. Seriously, before every single person in the world thought they had something to offer, YOU were hilarious.

Wow. So bummed. I am going to miss seeing pictures of you and your friends and wishing I was lucky enough to know you all!

Good luck with whatever you are do! And thanks for everything.
